By now you have probably heard the tragic news of the loss of our young Asian elephant calves, Ajay and Batu, to EEHV, a deadly virus that targets young Asian elephants in human care and in the wild.
Over the past week, we've received hundreds of heartfelt condolences as well as messages from the community asking us for ways to honor them. In response, we have created the Ajay and Batu Memorial Fund to Benefit the Animal Health Center as a tribute to them that would support EEHV detection and treatment on-site at the zoo.
