Marks the Friends of the Rosamond Gifford Zoo’s 50th Anniversary

Over 50 years, the Friends has gone from a small group of local citizens that formed to improve their zoo to a key partner of the zoo that supports its AZA missions of top-notch animal care, nature education and saving species.

Over the decades, Friends of the Zoo has spearheaded many capital campaigns that helped fund key exhibits including the USS Antiquities exhibit, Amur tiger exhibit, Penguin Coast, Primate Park and the Helga Beck Asian Elephant Preserve. The Friends is currently renovating the former lion exhibit to create a new Amur leopard habitat.

Friends of the Zoo also provides support services including membership and volunteer services, as well as operating The Jungle Café, the Curious Cub Gift Shop and Catering at the Zoo. Our zoo education programs teach thousands of children and adults about wildlife and conservation every year.

The Friends exists to support the zoo, so we’re celebrating our 50th by asking YOU to join us in a vigorous show of support to launch the next 50 years!

The $50K for 50 Years campaign aims to raise $50,000 for the zoo by the end of 2020.
You can pitch in too with a donation of any amount.
Together, we can all give our zoo a strong start to the next 50 years.

Thank you for all you do for the zoo!
